Zaira likes Arnie even though she knows he is gay. Accepting Arnie’s sexual orientation seems like the most difficult part of Zaira’s decision to pursue him, but she learns that it’s not nearly as complicated as defining what it is she and Arnie feel for each other, dealing with the criticisms of their friends and family, and coming to terms with the prejudices and emotional scars she never knew she had.
