Dear Sir Bing
I don’t know how to express how grateful I am for your generosity and brilliance. I said this recently about another mentor, and it is true for you as well. There are people who come into our lives whose importance is found not in the amount of history we share with them, but in the quality of respect and affection we are fortunate enough to receive from them.
I only spent an intense week with you, but you have changed me with your heart and mind. I have always considered you a mentor, and you will always be, even after you’ve passed. I will carry you, your wisdom, and your encouragement in everything I create. You will always receive credit for helping me SEE people, being present and grounded in someone’s world, and appreciating the treasure of every person’s story. You made me feel seen and valued like no one else in this industry ever has, something that is rare in the field we have planted ourselves in. I hope I managed to make you feel seen and appreciated as you deserved.
You never got tired of asking me, “Asan na ang script mo?” every time I checked up on you, even though I always just replied with an awkward laugh or a lame excuse. No one has ever called me a genius, and I’ve always found that embarrassing because I have always regarded YOU as one of this industry’s genuine geniuses.
Padayon, Sir Bing.
